Activities for Students

Find out about activities run by the Graduate Union.

The Graduate Union runs free yoga classes for Members and Associate members of the Union (Postgraduates, Mature UG, Post-Docs, and partners of members). There are two sessions per fortnight, alternately on Friday evenings and on Sunday evenings, from 18:45 to 19:45. You can find updated dates and times on our Facebook page.

Sessions take place in the SU Lounge at 17 Mill Ln. There is no requirement to book ahead.

About our yoga sessions

Each session is open-level Hatha yoga. In each class, we explore breathing (pranayama) techniques to help calm the mind and body and prepare for practice. We then start to connect the breath to movement, warming up the body and exploring a variation of yoga postures (asana). Class varies depending on how students are feeling, but tries to focus on areas that many people struggle with: shoulders, back, core and hips. Whether you are a seasoned yogi or a beginner, you will be able to find your space here.

Laura, our instructor, is a 500-hour Hatha yoga teacher (certified in 2015) and has been practicing for over 10 years.

Parent and Toddler Coffee Mornings

We run a weekly parent and toddler coffee morning, which is open to all GU members and their partners. Refreshments are provided as well as a selection of children's books and toys. It's a great opportunity to meet other student parents and families in Cambridge.

The Parent and Toddler Coffee Mornings take place every Friday from 10am-12pm.
