Council Tax exemption (update)
15 Oct 2009
Exemption for Graduate Students beyond their 3rd year of PhD studies has become an issue this summer. We are currently working with the University and a number of high level officials to reach a resolution on this matter. Website information may be slightly out-dated due to the ongoing nature of these discussions but further clarification will be added as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, any student with problems should request a letter of support from the Board of Graduate Studies who will also have the very latest information. Share your experiences with other students through our forum. LATEST: The issue was raised the issue at the City Council meeting on Thursday 22nd October. We are waiting for full confirmation but it looks like 4th year students WILL be exempt, with appeals beyond 4 years being made on a case by case basis (if intermitted, had lab problems etc.)
