Before you can start the application process, a brief guide to the administrative bodies which you will need to deal with may be helpful.
The Board of Graduate Studies (BoGS)
The Board of Graduate Studies is the central University body that graduate students deal with. As a graduate student you are admitted into the University by the Board. They maintain your official student record, deal with registrations and announce exam results. BoGS produces the offical Graduate Studies Prospectus and application pack, which is used when applying for most graduate courses.
Courses with admissions administered by BoGS
BoGS administers admissions for most graduate-level study, including the following courses:
- Full time research for the Ph.D., M.Sc. or M.Litt. Degree
- Full time research not registered for any qualification as a visiting student
- Full time courses for one year M.Phil. Degree
- Full time course for the LL.M. Degree
- Full time courses leading to Diplomas and Certificates

Four-year medical degree for graduates

Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE – teacher training)
Applications for the PGCE are made in two parts: you must apply for the course via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR), and also apply for college membership via the Faculty of Education Admissions Office.
