The Graduate Union

The Graduate Union not only represents graduate interests within the University, but also provides graduate-focused services and fosters intercollegiate activities and events. The GU is an independent student union for graduates, which:

  • Promotes graduate issues through representation on University committees and wider campaigns
  • Provides advice and support on academic and other welfare-related matters
  • Organises social events and other intercollegiate activities, and maintains a university-wide events calendar.
  • Runs the GU Shop providing publications, stationery, phonecards, printing, photocopying, fax and binding services. We also rent out various items, including gowns. There are also notice boards with free advertising space for grads to use and an online forum.

Elected and co-opted officers run the GU on behalf of all of its members. With our focus on graduate matters, we aim to complement the work of CUSU (Cambridge University Students' Union), and coordinate and support the college unions (MCRs).

The University regularly asks the Graduate Union for comments, advice and suggestions and so it's important that we know what you think. You can let us know by voting in elections, by sending us your suggestions or discussing them in the online forum. Why not get involved in the GU: organise events, sit on a University Committee, or run for a post on the GU Board in early November?

The Graduate Union aims to support you, help solve your problems or at least put you in touch with people who can assist, and provide answers and guidance.
