Trinity Hall prides itself on being the friendliest college in Cambridge and nowhere is that more evident than in the MCR. Graduates form approximately 40% of the college's student population and integrate well with the undergraduates, fellows and staff. The Graduate community consists of a delicate mix of subject areas, international and UK students, males and females and a wide range of interests, sports and pursuits.
The MCR is the focal point of the graduate community of Trinity Hall. The Committee orchestrate a wide range of events and work hard to create an environment offering daily newspapers, multi-channel television, refreshments and more in addition to the numerous entertainment events coordinated by the "Ents team". At its busiest, the facility regularly provides host to lunchtime banter, the forum of political expression that is the MCR Committee Meetings and film nights.
Weekly, there are two formal halls--high-quality 3-course meals to which college members can bring guests and their own wine. In addition, there is one "grad hall" per week, specifically for graduates - complementary drinks are served in the MCR both before and after and the meal is subsidised by the MCR's funds. Fortnightly there is a slightly livelier "Super hall", a themed evening where dress is less formal but the fun substantially higher! Special, black tie dinners also crop up frequently throughout the year.
Both the MCR and JCR host bops throughout the term, party/disco nights that attract large proportions of graduates and cheap drinks are served. Easter term and may week in particular, sees many garden parties for the different college societies and the transformation of college into the June Event.
Accommodation is spread across various locations within in Cambridge, the majority of which is at the Wychfield site, north of the town centre adjacent to Fitzwilliam College. A range of rooms are available including married couples' flats and, from October 2006, en-suite facilities. A row of terraced houses in Bateman Street provide a convenient southerly base for those wishing to be close to Engineering, Chemistry, Addenbrookes and the railway station. All sites include television common rooms as well as kitchens that can easily host small dinner parties. Meals are however served 3 times a day in hall, on the central site, where a range of options is available.
