Homerton is the newest of the Cambridge colleges and has a blossoming graduate community. The college has only accepted graduate students for the last few years and has put a lot of effort into making graduates feel at home. Happily situated one mile south of the city (and therefore away from the tourists) in extensive grounds, the college buildings tastefully combine the original Victorian Great Hall with the newer accommodation blocks and spacious 24hr access library.

The fledgling MCR is getting stronger and stronger and hosts a variety of social events throughout the year. Typically, freshers' week includes punting and a picnic, a guided tour of the town, and the all-important Matriculation Dinner. In addition, the MCR plays a key role in ensuring the needs of Homerton's graduate students are met by the college.

In terms of student numbers Homerton is the largest of the Cambridge colleges and is open to grads and undergrads alike. As well as the impressive library, the college is able to offer accommodation to the majority of its graduate students in the first year and also has some space for returning graduate students. Harrison House is the newest of the accommodation blocks for graduates and offers high-spec, en suite rooms with a well-equipped kitchen for every five students. Rooms are also available in Queen's Wing but few graduates choose this option. In later years many graduate students live out, often in streets off Hills Road, the main artery into town where Homerton is situated. Although most graduates have cooking facilities in their flats, the college has a Buttery and dining hall providing meals 7 days a week. Formal halls take place every Tuesday with special dinners organised for occasions such as Christmas and Burns Night. For sporty types, squash and tennis courts are available on-site and the college has an agreement with the next-door sixth form that allows Homertonians use of their gym facilities for a greatly reduced price.

Despite only recently becoming an official college, Homerton has a proud and distinguished history but is not desperately stuck in the traditional ways that hinder some of the older colleges. It is a dynamic, forward-thinking place to study and is increasingly popular with graduate students.
