On Wednesday 2nd May, the Council of the Graduate Union voted unanimously to support Owen’s appeal against the University Court of Discipline’s sentence, and to work closely with the University and College Union in campaigning against this decision.
A number of MCRs have also independently passed motions in favour of supporting Owen’s appeal – more information to follow.
A website has been set up for Owen’s campaign – you can find it here: http://reinstateowenholland.wordpress.com/
Both the website and this page will be updated as more information comes up, but in the meantime help spread the word by using the campaign’s facebook cover photo, available to download on the site above.

Last Wednesday, the University Court suspended a student for participating in a protest against David Willetts until Michaelmas 2014: SEVEN TIMES what the University’s own prosecutor was asking for (a single term!). The student was singled out for a protest that over 60 students and academics have taken responsibility for, having written to the University asking to be given the same charge.
Whatever you think about the Willetts protest, this sentence must not stand. Thousands of people have already signed a petition, calling on the University to reverse this decision: now, join us outside Great St Mary’s Church this Wednesday, 21st March at 10:00am to protest against this sentence, and to defend our right to protest! Please bring a gown if you are a University member (and if you can).
